Results from the Badgers Golf Day at Darenth Valley in 2006 won by Peter Gallagher |

The summer meet at Darenth Valley was attended by 22 Badgers and, as the seasons finale to decide the new Badger captain, enjoyed some high scores and a high level of competition. However, the biggest battle on the day was fought by Sharpie's belt trying to keep that stomach in. Apparantly you can now see him on Google Earth he's got so round. So it's only right this edition of Badger News can be enjoyed in 'Sharpie Surround Sound' so turn them speaker's up and enjoy 'Sharpies Theme' as you peruse..... Sharpie models the latest in merchandising from the Badgers maternity range Our thanks go to the sponsor for the day, Mark Smith at Commercial Stone, who milked it for all it was worth and managed to get into all of the photos, even winning one of his own prizes. No funnies to report as I wasn't there and despite repeated requested to the committee none have been forthcoming so it must have been a fairly dull day! Moving onto the golf, there were prizes for Alan Ruddy for Nearest the Pin and Longest Drive for that man Mark Smith, now a recipient of this award for the third time. Playing golf with Mark is a once in a lifetime experience - just why did it have to be ours? Alan Ruddy receives Nearest the Pin
Mark 'I play rugby you know' Smith receives Longest Drive
On the winners rostrum, all of the scores were above 36 points which shows that the standard of golf is getting better across the society. Richard Maggs was a worthy 3rd with 36 points, and pipping him on countback was Nigel Smith in 2nd with his first appearance on the rostrum. Didn't stop him pissing off early though. Hovever, winner and the first Badger to take home the coveted trophy twice was Peter Gallagher with a mighty 45 points. Don't worry Badgers, his handicap has been well and truly savaged as a result! Finally, the winning team prize was Richard Maggs, Eugenio Caruso and Richard Gent in Team 6 with 89 points, pipping Team 2 on countback. Well done to all of our winners. Richard Maggs receives Third Place
Andy Bawn receives Second Place on behalf of Nigel Smith. Makes a change for Kingspan to finish off something for Accsys, it's usually the other way around....
